From the host's perspective we believe that a number of complimentary QoS mechanisms will be required in the network to practically support the full range of services required by existing and emerging applications. The host plays a key role in providing an integrated and manageable view of these QoS mechanisms to the application writer, and in providing a manageable view of application traffic to the network manager. I will speak about the role of the host in supporting the full-service QoS-enabled network.
